Degrassi: The Next Generation

Ellie Nash:

Season 2
Ellie starts out in the background, but from the get-go, you know that she is the girl who is not gonna take any crap, especially from people like Paige, and when the "in-crowd" shuns Ashley, Ellie is happy to befriend her. We can also immediately see that she is the girl that a lot of the guys want, but she can never seem to have the guy she's after. She begins to like Marco, but things are going too slow for her liking and this upsets her. Then when Marco realizes he's gay, she is there for him and even willing to pretend to be a couple for his sake.

Season 3

Ellie is tired of being held back by pretending to be Marco's girlfriend, so they break up and she encourages him to come out to his friends. We find out more about her home life in this season as we see that her father is away in the military and her mother is an alcoholic. The problems at home and the stress of her new co-op job with Caitlin Ryan lead Ellie to start cutting herself and when Paige catches her, she starts to get help. While on assignment for co-op, she purposely lands in detention, where she meets Sean Cameron. She wants to do a story on him stealing from Degrassi, but instead the two connect instantly and though they are so different, end up falling for each other and dating. Ellie doesn't know how to be a real girlfriend, so she and Sean start off rocky, but eventually it works out.

Season 4

Ellie and Sean are still doing great. Things in Ellie's life are all good... except her mother. Sean wants Ellie to move in with him but she wants to take care of her mom. The drinking is getting worse. So bad that her mother passes out and almost burns down the house and Ellie has to save her. This was the last straw. Ellie decides to move in with Sean. Things are good for them until the school shooting. Sean can't deal with his part in Rick's death, and decides he needs to leave Ellie to go home to be with his parents. Ellie takes it hard at first, but with the help of her good friend Alex,  she realizes that things aren't all that bad and she can go home to her mother again.

Season 5

Over the summer Ellie has become best friends with Craig. She has helped him so much with his issues and they are inseparable... that is, until Ashley tells her that she's not coming back and Ellie hides it from Craig. When they repair that snag in their relationship, Ellie joins Downtown Sasquatch and realizes she has feelings for Craig other than friendly ones. But when Manny comes back in to the picture Craig has to make a choice and chooses Manny, but the two still remain very close the rest of the season. So much so that it makes Manny jealous. Ellie also helps Jimmy this season. She encourages his artistic side and provides inspiration. When Jimmy decides he wants to "take it to the next level" however, Ellie declines because she's still hung up on Craig. Ellie graduates from Degrassi at the end of the season.

Season 6

Ellie enters into a new relationship with her newspaper editor Jesse in season 6. The peace doesn’t last long with Craig’s arrival from Vancouver. Manny and Ellie are both able to detect Craig’s strange behavior, which we find (through Manny) is the result of his cocaine usage. Manny attempts to take cocaine but develops a distaste for it. When Ellie discovers traces of cocaine in Craig’s room, she proceeds to confront Craig who places blame on Manny. Ellie’s gulibibility ultimately gets her into trouble with jesse. Once Manny dumps Craig, she fills Ellie in on the situation. She also lets her know that Craig has been lying about who possessed the drugs and the true extent of his usage. Ellie is angered with the news and confronts Craig. She chastises him for deceiving her and attempting to manipulate her emotions. Ellie also ends up apologizing to Manny for believing she was using the drugs at Liberty’s party. Ellie begins to become worried that Craig will discover that she kissed Craig. Ashley encourages her to tell him but she feels less guilty when she finds that Jesse has been cheating on her. While initially angry, Ellie has a chat with Jimmy that leads her to forgive Jessie. Their relationship does, however, end later. There is indication that they get back together in “Don’t You Want Me (Part II),” when Marco discovers them sleeping together.

Season 7

It is still unknown whether Jesse and Ellie will get back together in season 7. A promo for Degrassi shows Jesse making out with Caitlin Ryan. Aside from Ellie’s troubles with her own relationships, she attempts to get Marco’s in order. Ellie sets Marco up with a co-worker from her newspaper. Marco initially decides to be obedient to Dylan, but then decides that both need to have a serious talk. His current relationship status is unknown.
