Emma Nelson:

Season 1
Emma stands out strongly as the activist of the cast. She mirrors Caitlin's character from the original Degrassi as shown in the season premiere. Throughout the year we follow her and Sean's budding relationship. Only to see it fall apart near the end of the year.

Season 2
Emma's got a new look this year with her braces, but doesn't change too much. She has a brief crush on Craig, but after that doesn't pan out she gets back together with Sean. Near the end of the year her activist side comes out again, as she gets suspended from school for protesting GM foods in the cafeteria

Season 3
Emma starts the season off by finding her birth father Shane McKay. After the ordeal however, she bonds much closer with her family now recognizing Mr. Simpson as her dad. She ends up breaking up with Sean after he starts hanging with a new crew, and has trouble in her future relationship with Chris.

Season 4
Emma has a new look this season, but is still somewhat the same girl. She protests Rick's return and makes friends with the popular crew, but when she won't allow him to be beat up she is outcasted again. These negative feelings follow her all the way through her van hookup with Jay, and a tough rest of the year.

Season 5
Emma starts the year off with a crush on the new guy Peter, but after he exposes best friend Manny's bare breasts to the school via email her crush ends. Eventually Emma would secretly date Peter behind Manny's back. Later when Emma's problems become to much for her she turns to anorexia and bulimia. After Manny finds out that Emma and Peter have been dating the two help plot an intervention to save Emma from herself.

Season 6

Emma starts Season 6 as a senior in high school. Her relationship with Peter is no longer existent and her fling with Sean returns to the spotlight. Emma finds herself in several significant predicaments dealing with pregnancy, a near loss of a friend, Manuela Santos, and an actual loss of a friend, JT. Yorke.

Season 7

Emma enters Season 7 as a shoulder to cry on, consoling Darcy as a vicious rumor lurks the halls of Degrassi concerning her alleged sexual encounter with Peter.
