Jay Hogart:

Season 3

Jay appears in the third season telling Marco to steer clear from Dylan. We can conclude that Jay is to some degree homophobic from this action. Jay is also known at Degrassi as a bad apple. He steals and doesn’t think twice about getting into fights. Among his friends include Towerz, Alex, and Amy.

Season 4

In the fourth season, Rick returns to Degrassi after putting Terri into a coma. Jay and other students proceed to bully him. To get their message across, Spinner, Alex and Jay plot to embarrass Rick on national TV. Since Rick is a contestant on an academic show, they are able to dump yellow paint and feathers onto him while on live TV. Rick, enraged, returns to school with a firearm. Before going on a shooting rampage, he stops at the bathroom where he overhears Spinner and Jay talking about how Jimmy planned the event. Rick, now having a target in mind, proceeds to the hallway where he finds and shoots Jimmy. He then encounters Sean, Toby, and Emma. Sean is able to gain control of Rick’s gun but not before Rick accidentally fires the gun at himself. Aside from Jay’s role in Jimmy’s shooting, Jay is also known to have spread Gonorrhea among girls at Degrassi. Some of these girls include Emma and Alex. Alex ends up breaking up with Jay over this STD.

Season 5

Jay attempts to get JT involved in selling pharmaceutical drugs in season 5. JT decides to pull out of the business but not before he overdoses on the drugs himself. Jay calls an ambulance to save JT. Jay is also left to deal with loneliness this season. When a comment to Darcy makes him lose his friendship with Spinner, Jay is left with no friends. He however, reconciles with Alex who comes out to him.

Season 6

Jay is no longer in school and has instead become a mechanic. He will use his position to later provide Sean a job. Both Sean and Jay contribute to getting Peter into street racing. When trouble erupts between Sean and Peter, they decide a race would be appropriate to settle it. Sean ends up hitting a pedestrian, and upon Emma’s suggestion turns himself in. After Sean is released from jail, he learns of Jay’s “extra-curricular” activities with Emma. Jay tells him that Emma “begged” to perform fellatio on him, which causes Sean to throw a punch at him. As the season progresses, they are once again on good terms.
Jay also starts to date another girl this season, Mel. Mel works at a strip club and tells Alex of an opening. Jay ends up learning that Alex is working at he club and begins to scold her for lying to Paige.

Season 7

Jay’s relationship with Mel comes to an end in Season 7. To make up for the loss, Jay decides to get high with Alex. Jay is also shown to have some involvement with Manny this season. She turns to Jay to help with some parental issues. They are successful in that regard, but also begin to develop an affection for one another. Manny is seen calling Jay attractive while he is descending to the ground on one knee. This is an indication that they may become engaged.
