Gavin "Spinner" Reginald Mason :

Season 1

Spinner is a lucky guy. Two beautiful girls vying for his attention, a best friend that's destined for basketball greatness, and his never failing charm to get him through the school year without a hitch. So why isn't he satisfied? His crush on Terri fizzles out slowly but surely and eventually so does Paige's crush on him. He skates through the school year cutting it close with both Ms. Kwan and Raditch. Plotting hilarious schemes and ending Jimmy's basketball season, he truly learns a few lessons this year.

Season 2

This year, Spinner has his eye on Paige. He just can't seem to get through to her, but when he does he is only rejected for a rival schools Soccer star, Dean. Feeling that all hope is gone, he relinquishes his feelings for Paige until Dean resurfaces and he finds out Dean actually raped her. He Runs to Paige's defense, he doesn't get the chance to rescue her, but gets the girl instead. Spinner also gets jealous over Jimmy's wealth leading him to steal his MP3 player. But when Jimmy finds out and Spinner returns it Jimmy just can't forgive him.

Season 3

Things are really looking up for Spinner this year...and Paige. Finding bliss in their newfound romance, but not on the money tip, he devises "Operation Locker Storm, which goes horribly wrong, especially since he has to go through Jimmy, who is slightly grudging from the what happened adoring last year's end. Going through with his plans, he wins back Jimmy's respect and upsets Paige, but ultimately wins her heart again. He seems to be back on track until things with Marco begin to unravel with hate and foul play on Spinner's part after finding out he is gay. After finally getting over that fact Spinner ends this year gracefully with his relationships in general left in tact.

Season 4
Spinner has every reason to be happy this year. He has his girl and his best friends by his side completely and a new car. One problem though, Paige is finally going to be able to put her past behind her and go after Dean in court. After losing the court battle Paige goes after Dean personally at the expense of Spinner's car. After things with Paige begin unraveling it looks like Spinner and Manny have something going. Then when Rick returns to Degrassi with a gun and Spinner inadvertently is responsible for Jimmy getting shot, things explode. Spinner ends up losing all his friends and getting expelled along with Jay. At the end of the year it looks like Spinner may have a chance to return next year, but will his friends forgive him?

Season 5

As an outcast and Jay his only friend Spinner returns to Degrassi. With no one to hang out with he ends up meeting Darcy. A cute girl who actually likes him and wants to get to know him on a personal level as well as an intimate level. And she introduces Spin to the Friendship Club. This is where Spinner can fit in and be himself through God. He gets freaked about it at first but eventually learns that it is truly for the best. Yes, the Friendship Club makes waves with his personal interests along the way, especially when it comes to Jay. And than Marco forgives the new "saved" Spinner and it looks like things might be going his way. After a quick tussle with Linus, the leader of the friendship club, over Marco's sexuality. Spinner severs ties with Linus but is still part of the club. The problems don't end there Darcy, jealous of Spinner's past, drives him into the arms of Paige of all people. And at the end of the year Jimmy finally forgives Spinner, but it looks like his and Darcy's relationship is in trouble.

Season 6

Spinner starts Season 6 by trying to reconcile his relationship with Darcy. While successful, the relationship does not last long after Spinner finds that Darcy is publishing provocative photos of herself online. Season 6 also puts Spinner’s relationship with Jimmy to the test. When both open up a t-shirt business, Spinner is overwhelmed with its potential and puts money before his friendship. His trail if thought is shifted, however, when the business is robbed, making him realize that Jimmy’s friendship is far more important than the business. Spinner’s interest in Paige also returns this season. When he reveals how he feels to Paige, she suggests that they become “friends with benefits.” They later drop this title and become normal friends.

Season 7

Spinner once again appears as a protective figure in Season 7. He protects Toby as he is cornered by Johnny DiMarco and prevents a fight between Liberty, Danny, and a Lakehurst student. Lakehurst also manages to provide Spinner with a new love interest, Jane. Since both are forced to participate in a peace committee, they hit it off and end up going on a date. Spinner, unfortunately, is required to leave when his strange pains flare up again. These pains turn out to be testicular cancer. An oncologist recommends Spinner undergo surgical and chemotherapeutical treatment. Spinner’s woes encourage him to shave is head and engage himself in two fights, the latter which Jimmy attempts to prevent. Spinner and Johnny DiMarco are both fined for fighting, while a camera operator documenting the scene is detained. After Spinner’s surgical procedure is complete, he returns to school where he is able to successfully reunite with Jane.
