Toby Issacs:

Season 1

Toby Issacs makes his debut on Degrassi in season 1. He is noted as being Ashely Kerwin’s younger step-brother and a close friend of JT. Among Toby’s more noteworthy activities in the first season include his help in saving Emma from an online pedophile, his rivalry with Ashley, and his persistent crush on Emma. 

Season 2

Season 2 brings about a new love interest in Toby’s life, Kendra Mason. While all things initially appear perfect, Toby’s love interest shortly diminishes when he discovers Kendra is Spinner Mason’s step-sister. Despite Spinner’s attempts to eradicate Toby’s love interest, Toby decides to stand up to Spinner which ends up mending the conflict. Toby is also faced with self-esteem issues this season. In attempting to become more like Sean Cameron, Toby enrolls in the wrestling team and takes on ingesting laxatives as a means of losing weight. This in the end does nothing but harm him.

Season 3

Toby’s friendship with JT is placed in boiling water with the start of season 3. As JT starts to hangout with a new crowd, Toby begins to feel left out and threatens to make public JT’s wet dream about Liberty. When JT proceeds to make fun of him, Toby releases the information. In another effort to rise in popularity, Toby turns to hacking Jimmy’s grade. Unfortunately, Toby inputs a grade of 8888% and is caught by Raditch. In desperation, Toby rats Jimmy out, making him look like a fool in Jimmy’s eyes. However, Toby is able to win some brownie points with Jimmy as he takes the blame for irresponsible behavior during detention in the episode “Take On Me” .

Season 4

Toby’s departure from JT leaves him to befriend the school rebel Rich Murray. After the shooting, JT and Toby reconcile following a reminder from Manny that Toby was always willing to lend a hand to him.

Season 5

As Toby learns of Liberty’s pregnancy, he attempts to help the two in any way that he can. Despite JT’s demand for money and ensuing rude demeanor, Toby remains with JT even following his overdose. Since Liberty and JT are on anything but good terms, Toby attempts to keep JT up to tabs on Liberty’s pregnancy. This backfires when the principal asks Liberty to cease being the class president. Toby makes up for his deceptive behavior when he calls for an ambulance as Liberty’s water breaks. Toby is present when Liberty gives birth at the hospital and ultimately transfers guardianship to aspiring parents.

Season 6

In Season 6, Toby is subject to violence spurred by the rivalry between Degrassi and Lakehurst. He is injured by a Lakehurst gang and is placed in a cast and neck brace. He is also left to deal with the loss of a friend that was also spurred by the conflict between Degrassi and Lakehurst. After JT’s death, Toby attempts to console Liberty but ends up feeling some attraction towards her. Toby finally confesses his affections for Liberty to Manny.

Season 7

Toby is anything but happy with the arrival of Lakehurst students at Degrassi. Although Johnny DiMarco offers to establish a truce between himself and Toby, Toby outright refuses. Toby publicizes his hate for Lakehurst via a podcast and is encouraged by Liberty to dampen his hatred. Toby then tries to establish a truce but is informed that it is no longer possible. Toby make another podcast where he shows a change in attitude. Despite his efforts, he is hassled in the lunchroom until Spinner comes to his aid.
