Stacie Mistysyn Interviewed

Stacie Mistysyn has been a part of the Degrassi Family longer than any other actor on the show. When Degrassi recently celebrated it's 25th Year Anniversary, Mistysyn as well celebrated 25 years with the show, a vast majority of her life. Throughout Kids Of Degrassi Street, Degrassi Junior High and Degrassi High Stacie was there all the way. Which brings us up to Degrassi: The Next Generation episode 422 "Goin' Down The Road Part 2", the most recent episode to air. In the episode Stacie's character Caitlin leaves us yet again to pursue career options in Los Angeles. Interestingly enough, this move mirrors a large part of Stacie's real life.
DegrassiTNGHO recently had the pleasure of interviewing Stacie. We got some info on her theatrical career, the L.A. happenings in her life and Caitlin's future on Degrassi. We'd like to thank Stacie tremendously for answering our questions, and Amy at DW communications for making it happen.
DTNGHO: "The Affairs" is obviously your most recent theatrical gig. Do you have any plans to do similar projects in the future?
Stacie: Yes, if the project jumps out at me, the role seems interesting and/or there's good people involved, I'd certainly be up for it.
DTNGHO: Last winter I was speaking with Ben Neihart, a writer for NY times (he did the large spread on Degrassi). He had mentioned you were considering or had been in L.A. possibly getting into TV/Movies. Do you have any plans to do something like that in the future? Is that something you'd like to do?
Stacie: I've actually been living in LA for the past eight years now. However, I've spent about half each year working on the Degrassi show in Canada. Yes, I've been doing t.v. and film over the years but for the past three years, have balanced work on Degrassi with the occasional theatre gig and mostly writing.
DTNGHO: Lastly, it appears that your Degrassi character won't be a recurring member in season 5. Can you tell us if Caitlin will be appearing this season at all?
Stacie: Well, you know almost as much as I do. I CAN say that Caitlin will be back for season 5 but not to the same extent as in past seasons. I'm never quite sure what the writer's have in store for her but they seem to enjoy sending her off to foreign countries at the end of each season! I think that's how they keep me in line.
