4/9/2006 - Various Season 6 News; New Opening
On Friday, the Executive Producer Stephen Stohn posted some new season 6 news on the official Degrassi website. He confirmed there will be a new opening sequence replacing the current one, parts of which have been around since season 3. Although the opening theme music by Jakalope that has been used since season 4 will remain the same. He also mentions that what the sequence contains exactly depends on the number of episodes and plots season 6 will have. He goes on to state that it looks like season 6 will probably have 19 episodes like season 5 had, although it has yet to be confirmed, as reported before the minimum number of episodes in season 6 will be 13. Here is his post below:
"Yes there will be a new opening sequence this year,, but we will keep the Jakalope version of the theme song. I like it, and besides Jakalope is one of my favourite bands of all time, they are so cool. They have a new album coming out in a couple of months that I think will be a monster!
Exactly what will be in the opening sequence depends a bit on how many episodes we shoot (and hence how many storylines we can include). Right now it looks like we'll be doing 19, but nothing is absolutely confirmed--we know it is a minimum of 13.
Linda and I are going to sit around the tv tonight with a big bowl of popcorn and watch the new eps of Degrassi and Instant Star on The N, should be fun!"
